Jobs Australia's submission to Minster O'Connor on the Review of DES is attached.  Some of the key points made in the submission include:

  • Jobs Australia strongly supports the moves to more flexible and customisable architecture for employment services which can be more responsive to individual needs.
  • The challenge in reviewing Disability Employment Services is to balance the need to preserve the depth of expertise of existing provider community and to develop new program architecture which fosters innovation, which enables more flexible service delivery and which better integrates different modes and sequences of assistance to individual job seekers.
  • Jobs Australia also believes there is a compelling case for the uncapping of places across both the DEN and VRS programs and for the new model for Disability Employment Services in Australia to be demand driven when it is implemented.
